On March 8, 2023, Kreischer Miller hosted a luncheon in celebration of International Women’s Day. Since March is also Women’s History Month, it is a time to honor the contributions women have made to our society, culture, and history. At Kreischer Miller, we are committed to supporting and empowering women, and we believe that inclusion and belonging are essential to our firm’s success.

This International Women’s Day celebration gave us the opportunity to learn more about influential women throughout history and the origins of International Women’s Day.

Mary Ellen Harris, Chief Human Resources Officer, kicked off the lunch with a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt, whom she has been inspired by throughout her life.

“You must do the things that you think you cannot do.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

Women’s History Month is aimed at commemorating and celebrating the vital role women played in history throughout the world, and Eleanor Roosevelt certainly comes to mind when thinking about that impact. Mary Ellen highlighted just a few of Roosevelt’s numerous achievements, including that she was the first Chairperson of the United Nations Human Rights Commission in 1946, she played a key role in creating the first Universal Declaration of Human Rights (and that a version of it is still in place today!), and that she was a pioneer and champion for human rights throughout world.

There were also informational displays throughout our office kitchen highlighting several other powerful female leaders throughout history, including Marie Curie, Amelia Earhart, Jane Austen, Ada Lovelace, Anne Frank, Gloria Steinem, and Dolly Parton.

Here are some highlights from the event:

This event was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the impact women have had on history and to celebrate women’s achievements throughout the world. We encourage you to visit the International Women’s Day website to discover how we can help empower one another to learn more and drive real change.
