John is a graduate from Muhlenberg College and started his career with PriceWaterhouse, in Philadelphia. He left PriceWaterhouse as an Audit Manager to become Secretary/Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of Boyertown Casket Company, a public manufacturing company, and later became controller of MRI Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Can Company.

John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). He is a past member of the PICPA's Governing Council and Committees on Professional Ethics and Quality Control, and he is the former chairman of the Accounting and Auditing Update Conference Committee, the Forensic and Litigation Services Committee and the Annual Meeting Committee. He is also a former member of the Northeast Region Advisory Board of the Ben Franklin Technology Center.
